Test Probes & Fabrics

These Real Touch™ test probes are designed to be used for cycle testing of switches, buttons, keypads, keyboards, and membrane switches. Life cycle testing, and even cosmetic wear testing, can be achieved. These finger test probes can be used with our Motion Pro Testers. They can also be used for your own custom designed tester, other life cycle and fatigue testers, or switch and bounce testers.

Probes & Fabrics

Any time a simulated finger press is required, our standard silicone finger test probes should be considered. Our Real Touch probes conform to ASTM 1578 and ASTM 1597 Fig. 1 or Fig. 2. The test probes are available in a variety of mounting thread options. The hardness and dimensional aspects of the test probes are maintained and tested to match these standard button and switch testing specifications. Used with the Real Touch fabrics, a human finger and hand abrasion simulation can also be achieved.

These finger probes can be used as a repeatible probe for cycle testing switches, buttons and membrane switches and touch screens. The silicone finger probe design meets the specifications as set forth in the ASTM F1578 and ASTM 1597 (figure 1 or figure 2). The conductive option works great for capacitive touch screens. Life cycle testing requires a repeatable method and device for consistent testing and these probes should be part of the device. These can be used on Norman Tool button and contact testers as well as adaptable for other brands of testers.

All Real Touch probes are made to specific durometers, size and shape per ASTM 1578 and ASTM 1597 Fig. 1 or Fig. 2

Spring Assemblies use the Real Touch Finger Probes assembeled in a Spring Housing for a calibrated applied load. The load is achieved when the finger is depressing into the housing at the proper depth. There is an indicator line on the Probe shaft to visually indicate the proper depth.

The Real Touch Fabrics can be wrapped around the Probes to simulate the abrasion quality of the human finger and hands. Used with a swiping motion, this can simulate finger and hand abrasion. See the Motion Pro line of testers for motion simulation capabilities.

 

Adaptors are available for mounting the Real Touch probes to actuators. The standard adaptors shown below are suitible for all #8-32 Probes which is standard for all Norman Tool Motion Pro testers.
